Like at all electronics confabs, the serious future-of-technology gear shares space with the frivolous, strange, wacky and zany – as well as some hidden gems. Here's the off-beat (and some on-beat) gizmos I found wandering the show floors during this week's IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin.
Here's the very definition of wacky – but still… This new Italian company makes ski caps with built-in earphones. Sounds weird, but there are Canadians and kids who are ski cap wearers (Jimbo on "The Simpsons" springs to mind) who would dig not having to figure out how to groove to tunes while skateboarding but don't want to spoil their look. The caps, available only in Europe (iSheep is looking for U.S. distribution, but their Web site is all in Italian) in a variety of colors and fabrics including cashmere, run around $15-20, but actually sound pretty good. Yeah, you've love to see a shot of me wearing this woolen toque. Dream on.
