Smartphones have pretty dumb cameras, so Samsung has unveiled some pretty smart new digital cameras and HTC has introduced some smartphones with smarter digital cameras. Also new this week: a couple of smart ways to carry your smartphone, and a smart solar powered iPad keyboard case.
This top-of-the-line NX20 ($1100) features an 8 frame-per-second burst mode, a snappier-than-average 40 millisecond shutter, a 1/8000th of second shutter speed, an electronic level to perfectly align the camera with what you're shooting to get a non-crooked photo, an electronic viewfinder (EVF) for battery-saving non-LCD framing and composing, and a proximity sensor to detect when a user is away from the viewing area and shuts the screen off to conserve battery life. The NX20 comes with an 18-55mm zoom lens.
