No home is complete sans a 90-inch HDTV, or a surround sound system with both excellent electronics and speakers, or a way to more easily talk on an iPhone, and no home office is complete sans a new speedy 802.11 AC router, or a router designed for streaming media or copious hard PC file storage.
Belkin AC1200 DB Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC+ Gigabit Router
Following Buffalo, Belkin introduces the second 802.11ac router ($160). In brief, 802.11ac is the next generation Wi-Fi standard (802.11n is the current state-of-the-art), and Belkin promises wireless Wi-Fi connection speeds 2.8 faster than comparable N routers - that means faster Web page fills and faster media downloads. Of course, there are no other devices with AC for the router to connect to, but like the more expensive Buffalo and all upcoming AC routers, the Belkin includes speedy N connectivity as well until AC-compatible gear (laptops, smartphones, media streamers, etc.) begins to appear this fall.
