As we creep dangerously closer to Christmas, your gift decisions become more desperate. A couple of weeks ago I presented a passel of gift ideas for the geeks on your list (see Part I here, Part II here). Here are some additional suggestions, some truly fun and some immensely functional.
You've got stacks of receipts and business cards you can't face parsing and entering the information from. Why not use this portable scanner ($200) to scan them in? The software – there are versions for Windows and Mac – reads all the information off of them and places the data into appropriate fields in the software. You can create expense reports and contacts into Excel, Quicken, QuickBooks, TurboTax or Outlook. There's also a larger NeatDesk scanner ($400) that can scan multiple documents simultaneously.
