There is someone on your Christmas list who's a Star Wars fan. Do they have a lightsaber? This one from Hasbro ($35) doesn't extend suggestively like in the movies, but the red LEDs light up progressively to make it seem like it does. Your table lamps will be in more danger from it than any imaginary imperial storm troopers, but it does makes all the appropriate power up/down, "crash" when it hits something and swinging "swish" noises, all on three AA batteries – included.
