Not that the previous products I've told you about over the last few weeks weren't great, but this final group of new gear from CES may be the most interesting and practical I saw, such as a way to save money on power, powerful paper shredders and arguably the best portable stereo Bluetooth speaker.
Like the old Timex commercial used to say, these Philips earphones take a licking and keep on ticking. Designed for extreme sporters or just the klutzy, the "treadproof" medal housing in the earbuds and tangle-free Kevlar reinforced cables and cable connectors can withstand an impact – like you stepping or sitting on them – of up to 300 pounds, and can withstand all manner of cable stretching. They'll be available in April as straight earbuds ($40) in either red, blue, back and white, or with built-in universal in-line mic/volume controls for both Apple and Android ($50).
