Over the last couple of weeks, phone makers such as Motorola and Nokia have been scrambling to announce new models before being swamped by iPhone 5. This week, LG previewed its Optimus G Android phone while HTC introduced its new Windows Phone 8 handsets, the 8X and 8S. Here's a closer look.
Optimus employs Zerogap touchscreen, an in-cell-like technology to be found on the iPhone 5. By removing a touchscreen layer, touch sensitivity and smoothness are improved – and the screen provided the kind of touch reaction you'd expect from an iPhone – and you get a thinner phone. But as you can see, Optimus isn't even thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S III, which has a larger 4.8-inch screen.
