New Canon Digital Camera: First 50x Optical Zoom

Now that all the smartphone and tablet heavyweights are almost finished pummeling each other (we still await the rumored Apple iPad Mini), let's see what some other gadget makers have been up to. Canon, for instance, recently unleashed a slew of new D-SLR and point-and shoot cameras.

Need a super zoom digital camera? How about 50x optical zoom, according to Canon, the world's first. The 12.1-MP SX50 HS is equipped with a 50x (24-1200mm) 24mm wide-angle lens with optical image stabilization to keep images clear and sharp even at full telephoto. You also get stereo sound and full optical zoom when shooting 1080p HD video recording.
