Behind the wheel, I want no distractions from the multi-ton vehicles hurtling around me at 70 MPH. But increasingly, auto makers are loading their cars with advanced (and distracting?) electronics. Here are a few examples of hot new concept cars from the recent CES.
As you can probably read, this hot new concept car is powered by Microsoft – hopefully not Windows, or you'll be battling pop-up windows as often as other drivers, and have two different types of crashes to fear. But seriously folks, Kia's UVO eServices is a voice-activated infotainment system packed into an Optima hybrid mid-sized sedan. Included is a new telematics suite powered by a smartphone app to provide in-vehicle connectivity for sending navigation information from your phone to the car, parked vehicle locator, diagnostics, music management and hands-free mobile phone operation, all controlled by Microsoft's UVO ("Your Voice") voice and touch-activated technology. My only question: Does Ann Southern provide a motherly response?
