Hands On: Spyglass navigation app for iPhone

For a $2 application, Spyglass has a wealth of features--so many features, in fact, that you might feel a bit lost with it (pardon the pun). But even the basic features are enough to compensate for the worst sense of direction.

The best way to make sure you don't get lost is to know where you've started. So, for example, if you're getting out of your car and getting ready to hoof it, you'll want to store the location of your ride as a Spyglass "destination".

To add a destination, tap the iPhone screen to bring up the function icons, and then tap the small flag icon on the bottom-right side of the iPhone's screen. The menu shown in this screen shot will pop up—tap "Add Current Location" to mark your place.

Next, tap "Edit Destinations" to give your location a convenient name, like "car".
