This has been a fecund few weeks for new gadgets - I haven't seen more interesting and useful gear since the Consumer Electronics Show last January. I'm going to spend most of this week bringing you up-to-date on these latest drool-inducing gizmos. Today's batch is mostly travel and portable gear.
Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt External Hard Drive
Led by Apple, an increasing number of laptop PC makers are beginning adding Thunderbolt device connectors to their wares in addition to USB. So Buffalo has unveiled this external hard disk drive, the first to integrate both a new USB 3.0 jack and a Thunderbolt connection. Thunderbolt can copy files from one connected device to another around four time faster than USB, and start playing a movie off a connected drive three time faster. Buffalo's new MiniStation Thunderbolt, which includes both the USB and Thunderbolt cables, will be available in the next week or so in 500 GB ($200) or 1 TB ($230) capacities.
