Your smartphone is not only your go-to device for music playback and navigation, now car makers are enabling your iPhone or Android device to be the brains behind these and other apps in your car. Here's another bunch of cars and car apps, gizmos and gadgets I found from Ford, Hyundai, Kia and Lexus at CES. (See Part 1 here.)
Ford's SYNC AppLink technology, which, like the Chevy MyLink and the Chrysler Uconnect Access, provides a link between apps on your smartphone and the car's operating system as well as voice-activated control, is already available on more than a million Ford vehicles. In 2013, SYNC, powered by Microsoft, will be available on the Fiesta, Mustang, Expedition, Fusion, F-150 truck, Super Duty truck, Focus, E-Series vans and this new C-MAX hybrid.
