During the course of CES here in Las Vegas, more than 20,000 new products will be introduced, and here's a recap of all of them. Just kidding. Over the next few days, I'll bring you what I consider to be the most interesting, coolest or just plain weird from this year's show floor and environs.
My nomination for the most attention getting gadget at CES, this Sensics helmet (calling this "goggles" stretches the definition of the word) is a 3D, 360-degree immersive game playing virtual reality gesture controlling…thing. I didn't don it (I still maintain some shred of dignity, especially since every person I saw trying it need help getting it on and off), but I'm told it puts you smack in the middle of any Android game. Inside the helmet/goggles are cameras that can "see" your hand gestures similar to how the Microsoft Kinect works, and there's also voice control. For most games you'll have to handle a traditional game control pad; special games have to be designed to take advantage of gesture control. I'm also told SmartGoggles has other uses, but Halloween is still 10 months off. It'll be available sometime later this year at a price yet to be determined.
