Panasonic Plasma: Best HDTV Gets Even Better

When asked what HDTV to buy, my answer is always "a Panasonic plasma." Plasma HDTVs give demonstrably superior picture quality compared to LCD LED models, and Panasonic makes the best plasmas. And this year's models, just now going on sale, are even better than last year's.

These three lower-priced series of Panasonic plasmas – the GT50 series (available next month), ST50 series (pictured, available now) and UT50 series (available May-June) – each use basically the same "glass" or panel technology as the VT50, but lack the VT50's anti-reflective filter screen and include fewer jacks and amenities, and feature slightly different styling. Each step down means a savings of between $300-$500; the 50-inch entry level UT model lists for just $1,100.
