Over the long-term, however, the smaller jack may be a good thing. As you can see, it means a MUCH smaller jack on the phone itself. Apple has therefore been able to increase the size of the bottom speakers and move the headphone jack to the bottom, although ergonomically I'm not sure how this is going to work out.
