A growing number of companies are pairing Apple and Android apps with physical objects including board games, guns, radio-control vehicles and trading cards to create "augmented reality" activities. Here are some of the best app-object combinations from this week's annual Toy Fair.
There are lots of iPhone-controllable radio control toys, but the Wi-Spi Helicopter ($120, fall) and Intruder car ($100, fall) add a built-in 720p HD video/still camera that lives streams and records what the vehicle is seeing to an iPhone, iPad or Android app via Wi-Fi. Once the stills or footage is recorded on your portable device, you can email or upload the footage to Facebook or YouTube right from the app.
