Great Green Gadgets: Ambient Devices Smart Thermostat Display

You know the cost of energy to your home fluctuates, right? If you run, say, your dishwasher, when demand is heavy, you'll be charged more for the power you use. If you run your dishwasher when power demand is low, you'll pay less. So how do you know when power is at its cheapest? With one of these in-home displays ($99) from Ambient Devices. Once connected to your smart meter, you'll be able to see the actual price of your power on the display, and the LED will light green when power is cheapest, yellow for so-so and red for "wait till it turns green." The displays are differentiated only by their aesthetics.
