You could suddenly find yourself without access to the gadgets you thought you couldn't live without – and now know you can't. Here are a dozen digital items every modern home ought to be stocked with for either everyday use or just in case.
Another obvious emergency item, but I don't mean the skinny six-footer you use for your table lamp on the far side of the room. Get a heavy-duty 25- or 50-foot cord. Why? If you blow a fuse in one part of the house, power may be available in another – you may even drape it out one window into another or even from a neighbor's house. But the next item gives you an even better reason to have a lengthier heavy-duty cord.
