Alkaline Batteries

Yeah, I know, this is ridiculously obvious. But check your utility drawer. Go, I'll wait. I'll bet you're not only well short of a healthy emergency supply, but I'll also bet you're short a couple of types. Stock up at least a couple of dozen AA, a couple of dozen AAA, at least a half dozen C and D cells, and even a few 9-volts – and keep them a bit more organized than they are in the picture. When the lights go out, you'll be glad you did.
