If you are looking for good electronics bargains, you can find them with Amazon daily deals called Amazon Lightning deals. While Amazon typically offers electronics at a price cut from the manufacturer's selling price, they offer bigger discounts each day for a short period of time. If you're fast, you can get certain HDTVs, cameras, speakers, hard drives and just about any electronics for a limited time each friday.
Here are some examples of the deals that were available last Friday. A Sony DSC-WX10 Cybershot 16.2 megapixel camera with full 1080 HD video capabilities sells for $258 was cut $70. The usual Amazon discounted price is $239. The Lightning Deal price was $189. A Seagate 1 TB portable hard drive with $169 MSRP was available at $99. A subwoofer and speaker package that costs $39.99 was $14.99. And Netgear powerline adapters that run $108 were $59.
How Lightning Deals works
To find lightning deals or Amazon daily deals on electronics or other products that Amazon sells, go to their Gold Box page. If you have bought from Amazon before, you may already be receiving an email with a link to Lightning Deals. Like Amazon recommendations for those with an Amazon account, the Lightning Deals presented to you are based on your buying or browsing history. There may be other deals available if you go to the Gold Box page.
Lightning deals are offered for a limited window of time that varies for each item. The Item may have limited quantities available at that price. The offer expires when the time runs out—sooner if the item sells out. You can see all the items presently offered, or be tempted with clues to upcoming deals.
To learn about the Amazon deals, without getting emails from Amazon, you can follow Amazon on Twitter or Facebook.
Also, consider an Amazon Prime Account. With a Prime account you get free shipping on most items. Prime Account members have access to a number of free book downloads. The account also offers a number of free movie and TV show rentals. Without Prime the rentals would cost $1.99 or more. The price for Amazon Prime is $79 per year. Consider that Netflix will cost more than $85 per year and the subscription is only for streaming movies and TV shows.
More Electronics for Cheap
The Amazon daily deals are not the only way to get bargains on cameras, TVs, computers and other gadgets. There are other e-tailers that offer Black Friday types of bargains throughout the year. Tigerdirect.com has Black Friday deals on the last Friday of every month. Their deals last 48 hours. Price cuts range from $20 off their prices to getting a rebate so a HDMI cable purchase is "free." There are only a few items, but if it's the item you want, it may be a good deal.
Best Buy offers a "Deal of the Day." There is a link on their home page or you can go to the Deal of the Day page and sign up for email notifications. In a recent email there was iPhone/iPod alarm clock that was discounted from $100 to $45, and a iPad car mount regularly $59.99 for $9.99.
This is probably stating the obvious but before you buy, be sure you check around the web to see if the deal these website are offering is the best available. Also, be sure to check out the reviews on the device's model number to see if the lower price means lower quality. Amazon lists the reviews at the bottom of the product page. Click on the item and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the reviews from those who bought that model.
