This is not a commercial. Okay, maybe it is. A little. But I really like the mobile app for Life Goes Strong (LGS). In fact, I find all the LGS content easier to navigate than the Web browser site on which you're likely reading this not-a-commercial/commercial post.
Available in two versions, one for the iPad and one for the iPhone (sorry Android users), the LGS app gives you a much broader overview of all the wonderful content therein.
Not only do you get easier access to the most recent articles in all seven Life Goes Strong sections - Health, Family, Tech, Style, Home, Work and Play - but you also get a "Featured" overview area that gives you a shuffle of all the most recent content of all the LGS sections.
With the iPad propped on my lap while watching TV, I'm discovering and reading a lot more of the articles written by my fellow bloggers.
Our LGS app is structured much like the Huffington Post app as well as other content site apps with multiple sections (at least the better ones).
On the Home screen, the LGS lists sections vertically along the left side. Each section then has a sliding horizontal row with a story's or slideshow's lead photo and headline. Or, if you tap on a section, and you get a grid of photo/captions of the most recent posts in that section.
Overall, it's a great way to quickly and efficiently peruse through everything on LGS.
On both the iPhone and iPad, the LGS app works only in portrait mode - the app doesn't reorient itself into landscape.
Once in a slideshow on an iPhone, however, the photos are displayed in landscape mode, and you tap on the photo to see the caption.
I don't mean to sound like a shill, but I'm genuinely impressed by the Life Goes Strong mobile apps. But don't take my word for it - go, download and read and judge for yourself.
How to search for and download the Life Goes Strong app (or any app) on your iPhone or iPad:
On your iPhone or iPad, find the AppStore icon – it's powder blue with an "A" composed of what look like artist's tools in a circle.
After you tap and open the store app, tap on Search on the bottom row of choices (Search is the magnifying glass icon, the second choice from the right on the bottom row of options), tap the white search field and type in "lifegoesstrong" (no capital letters or spaces necessary). Hit Search on the keypad and the app name will show up underneath the Search field (although the App Store will likely give you a result before you finish typing.).
Tap on the "lifegoesstrong" from the search result,. Tap the LifeGoesStrong app icon when it appears, and the app description will pop up. Then just tap Free, then Install, wait for the app to load – then start perusing!
